Disney Cruise Line: Family Spring Break

Updated: Nov 6

Travel Time: April 9-13, 2025

Why We (Unexpectedly) Fell in Love with Disney Cruise Line

I’ll be honest—taking a Disney Cruise wasn’t originally on our radar. It felt a little too commercial and, let’s face it, the price tag gave me pause. But when spring break planning rolled around, I started comparing options and decided to take a peek at Disney Cruise Line sailings that stopped at their private islands. That’s when things started to click.

A Verandah room on the Disney Fantasy came to about $5,400 for a 4-night sailing with stops at both Disney’s Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point and Castaway Cay; plus a day at sea. Considering that price included meals, entertainment, and (the holy grail) childcare, it suddenly felt like a great value.

For comparison, we spent over $2,500 just on airfare to Nassau in 2022—and another small fortune on resort food. My husband still jokes about the $75 Starbucks breakfast we grabbed at Atlantis! When I looked at it that way, the cruise started to make a lot more sense.

And I can confidently say: it was perfect for our family. We love adventure and exploring the world, but this trip came at the perfect time—between big international travels, we were due for something relaxing and easy.

The biggest surprise? How much our kids loved the clubs. My son couldn’t get enough of it, and my daughter was so motivated to join that she finally ditched Pull-Ups for good! With both kids happily entertained, my husband and I discovered the adult side of the ship—pub trivia, craft sessions, and quiet cocktails on deck and in adult-only pubs.

Taking part in the RUSH! Junkanoo celebration was incredible!

We spent our port days soaking up the sun on Disney’s private islands. Both locations offered included food, drinks, and even kids’ clubs on the beach. At Castaway Cay, we escaped to the adults-only beach—just a handful of people on a stunning stretch of white sand. It felt like a dream and I couldn't believe we were still only working from the base price of our cruise.

All in all, the value was undeniable. Once we added up everything included, the price felt more than fair—and the peace of mind of knowing our kids were safe and happy? Priceless.
